Michelin sought to create an unforgettable Michelin Star Awards ceremony in Glasgow, the fist time the ceremony was hosted by a partner city, and we were pleased to support the project for a third year. The challenge was to transform the historic Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum into a world-class awards venue while ensuring the site remained open to the public during the day and setup the dramatic Old Fruit Market to be a fitting after-party location complete with partner expo stands.

The event needed to reflect Michelin’s legacy of excellence with a visually striking stage, immersive branding, and a seamless guest experience. Additionally, Michelin wanted to reach a global audience through a high-quality live stream while maintaining flawless execution for in-person attendees.

For the ceremony, the team worked into the early hours, once the museum closed to the public, to produce a sophisticated staging solution featuring an 11m x 4.5m LED wall, a sleek black gloss stage, and dramatic lighting, creating a visually immersive experience for the 600 attendees. The evening began with a grand red carpet entrance, where guests were welcomed by bagpipers, gas flambeaux lamps, custom branding, and dynamic lighting for suitable photo opportunities. As guests progressed through the museum to the drinks reception dramatic lighting and custom gobos illuminated the walkway through the exhibits.

White managed all show elements from content playback, stage management plus full production and scenic elements including print.

For the live broadcast, we deployed a six-camera setup, with a dedicated video control team ensuring a flawless stream to over 30,000 viewers worldwide including dual wireless gimbal operators and multiple remote cameras.

Following the awards, a separate site team managed the after-party at the Old Fruit Market. Overcoming the venue’s historical charm that posed some logistical challenges, the team handled full partner expo stand management and site branding in addition to event production. Partnering with the Old Fruit Market technical team, the spaces were transformed with lighting, branding, and stage dressing, transforming the space into a vibrant celebration hub. The entertainment continued into the evening as a separate team de-rigged the Kevlingrove venue.

From concept to execution, White Event Production ensured Michelin’s awards ceremony was a flawless success, delivering a technically outstanding and visually stunning event that left a lasting impact whilst juggling many logical challenges along the way.
